About Us

Jenny Hyer

Jenny has been dancing since the age of 5. She studied many different styles of dance including ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, folk, modern, tap, clogging and ballroom. She danced competitively through her studio (Centre Stage) in Nampa, Idaho as well as her high school (Vallivue High School) while winning many top awards. Jenny was on the Contemporary Dance Theatre team in college at BYU-Idaho which toured philanthropically through all of Central America. Later she joined the BYU-Idaho Folk Dance Team and as Captain led her team through Ecuador and Peru for a month while performing daily to raise money for those in need. Currently she is a member of Explore Dance Company, the National Folk Dance Organization and a board member for the Idaho Dance Education Organization(IDEO). She continues to cultivate her dance education through attending new certification courses and dance conferences each year.

Opening a studio has been a desire of Jenny’s for many years. From her interaction with young dancers she found a missing link that needs to be addressed. Dance isn’t just about the movement of the body, but about the discipline, goal setting, emotion portrayal, friendship, humility, team work, and leadership skills that will create an overall remarkable individual. At Illusion Dance Studios we focus on a specific leadership principle with your child each month and explore how applying that skill enhances our dance practice and our success in life.

Caitlyn Scow

Caitlyn started her dance  career at 4 years old and has been continuing her dance training in  ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and contemporary. Through dance, Caitlyn had  the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level with Idaho State  University Bengal Dancers. She coached High School Dance Team and has  taught classes for over 10 years to children of all ages. Caitlyn can’t  wait to share the knowledge she has gained in dance technique and  choreography, student leadership training, judging critique, competitive  dance, community involvement and build a desire to continue dancing  through out life with students at Illusion Dance.  Caitlyn is so excited  to continue sharing her joy and passion of dance and can’t wait to  learn and grow with your child as we create the next generation of  pivotal leaders in our community.

Kate Johnson

I am elated and honored to be a part of your dancer’s journey here are Illusion Dance Studios!

My aspiration is to offer my students a chance to discover their own relationship with dancing. Drawing upon a scope of skills and weaving together many technical backgrounds, I have come full circle to my own youthful appreciation for ballet. As a dance instructor with nearly twenty years’ experience, I am proud to imbue my knowledge of dance history, ballet technique and understanding of anatomy into my classes of all ages. As an artist and mother, I enjoy applying my skills of imagination, colorful imagery and empathy to encourage a holistic exploration of creative movement. I am unabashed to say that I have learned a lot while observing my daughter’s own exploration of our shared passion for dancing. She has reminded me of the essence and pure joy of how freeing and powerful movement can be.

I believe that dancing hones the mind, body and imagination. Each gesture a dancer performs requires mindfulness and intention; mentally challenging oneself to absorb and execute exercises while emotionally challenging oneself to evoke a feeling through grace and strength. Learning to both understand and appreciate one’s own magnificent physiology leads to confidence of what we can accomplish when we set our mind to something. Developing creative-movement skills sharpens cognitive creativity which inspires articulate thought with direction; ie. the catalyst for self-confidence, poise, inspiration, discovery and invention! Dance training enforces all these characteristics, directly correlating to enduring leadership skills

Miss Kate grew up in New York’s Hudson Valley. She began dancing at the age of four, studying the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) curriculum for twelve years. Kate majored in fine art and minored in dance at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. She has taught ballet and modern dance at studios all over the country. Kate is also a watercolor and oil painter, designer and licensed massage therapist. To enhance her understanding of movement styles and kinesiology, Kate has extensively studied various yoga and Pilates methods. Kate has been married to her husband Jeff, for over ten years and is a proud mother to Benjamin, 8 and Lydia, 3. The Johnson family moved to Idaho in 2015.
